Hi guys! Im new to the forum and am so happy to have stumbled on to it! I studied erhu as may concentration while i was taking my musicology course in university. sadly i haven't touched my erhu in 5 years and decided to take it up again. ;D I do hope you guys could really help me out... like looking for pieces (i lost all my jianpu pieces.. i don't know how to be honest...) and tips on producing better tone et al... I've started to reacquaint myself with the C scale on it and can play decently from the Open C string to the octave of G. beyond that it gets a bit screechy... hehehe... I do hope to learn a lot from all of you here! The erhu is a virtually unknown instrument here in the Philippines except in the chinese communities (which I live at least 3 hours away from) so I guess I have to learn on my own... Thanks guys! Magoo

Magoo: Welcome to the forum and welcome back to the erhu. Once you get back to regular practice I'm sure it will sound good again quickly. If you google around you can find some erhu music on the internet. But it would be even better for you to have a few good instruction books that would include scales, exercises, and a collection of tunes. I'd go to this site and consider ordering a few books and maybe an instructional DVD or CD: www.eason.com.sg/products/products_books.jspEason Enterprises is run by Song here on the forum from Singapore, and is a great place to buy instruments, books, and drool over new instruments. Tie your wallet close to your pocket. Another thing to do is get to an erhu lesson once or twice to get you back up to speed. Let us know how you get on, and good luck. Carlos
