I'm not sure either what to call a jinghu player, but a name that refers to someone who likes to be alone a lot would work. <g>
It used to be that my cat would leave the room as soon as she saw me bringing the erhu. I can only imagine how she would react to a jinghu. As for my wife, it is just a good thing I picked up Chinese music long after getting married.
In contrast to the age-old question about flutist or flautist, I don't usually hear questions about what to call someone who plays a particular Chinese instrument. In a professional setting, someone is a erhu master or guzheng artist, for example. Someone short of that accomplishment could be a erhu player, or in your case a jinghu player. There is nothing wrong with coining your own term, but be prepared to explain yourself. The jinghu is not common enough among English speakers to have a special name for its players.
All in fun.
Best wishes,
David
