Hey all:
This past weekend I performed at a folk festival here in Spokane (Northeastern Washington State, US) with my friend Zhou Ping and his wife Xiao Ping. Zhou Ping played erhu on two tunes and dizi on the rest, and Xiao Ping played the muyu - the wooden blocks. Here's the set list:
Ba Yue Gui Hua Bian de Kai - erhu duet in D Liang Xiao (Liu Tian Hua) - dizi and erhu duet in D Mu Min - erhu duet in F (Dm to my ears) Zi Zhu Diao - dizi and erhu duet in D Han Tian Lei - dizi and erhu duet in G Xi Yang Yang - dizi and erhu duet in G Xi Yi Ge - dizi and erhu duet in G (Em to my ears) Bai Mao Nu -dizi and erhu duet in G Nan Ni Wan - dizi and erhu duet in G couple of solo pieces to demonstrate the sounds Xian Yang Hua - dizi and erhu duet in Bb (Gm to me)
I stupidly didn't ask the sound person to record it, but I might be able to get a few pictures.

Wow, I would have loved to hear you and your friends at the festival, Carlos. That sounds like fun for all concerned. Too bad it did not get recorded!
I am in Chicago this week visiting family. My niece's teacher has asked me to play some tunes on dan bau (monochord) and dan nhi (Vietnamese erhu) for her elementary school class on Thursday. I did this in 2002 for the same teacher when my nephew was in her class, but on Irish flute. Should be fun.
Best wishes,
David

Okay.
Just in case folks haven't noticed, I posted a link in the "Erhu" forum. It clicks to a video clip of Zhouping and myself (and a young woman) playing Ba Yue Gui Hua Bian De Kai from February 2004. Similar to, but not quite as good as, what we did last weekend.

Carlos, Is that file a Mac movie? -- I'm stuck with WinXP Pro and it doesn't seem to want to open.

God, I'm really being flaky this morning... I forgot to credit our Folk Festival photographer, Brad Sondahl, for that great picture of us playing.
