Anything is possible if you put your heads together and work hard. Know what each member likes in music, share your music as a group and listen to each person's own taste in music.. It is important that chemistry is there and everyone likes the other person. Makes it easy to work with others. Any instruments go good with any other, it is just how you play together and if you have good listening skills! The softer you play the better you will hear yourself and your friends so you can work out a lot more things together than if everyone just plays really loudly on top of the other!
East and west have always worked together musically.
On my website under collaborations etc, you will find that I have worked with musicians of all genres from jazz, rock, pop, classical, avant and even electronica..
Just have fun with it and form groups, it teaches young musicians great leadership and team work skills for sure!
My best,
Vi An.
