Hi. Does anyone know where to buy this dizi? I love the design of it. Are there any shops in the Bay Area, Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Zhongshan, or Hong Kong? Thanks for the help. I like the design and the sound of it is so cool!! I saw it on 12 Girls Band and it is awwsome. But does it come in C or D key? Here's the link: cadenzamusic.biz/dxh_bd.htm

Why not order from Cadenza, since you like the look of the dizi on their website? I am sure that Yinhao would be happy to get whatever key you need. He plays the dizi at a high level so I value his opinion very highly.
I have not ordered from Eason Enterprises, but Sung Wah has contributed to this forum as well and appears to know something of fine instruments.
My favorite dizi comes from Tim Liu (www.2measures.com).
I do not know too much about Bay area music stores that offer dizi flutes, but there are several that you might try: - Chinese Arts & Music Center (www.baymusic.net). They don't specifically list dizi on their website, but you could call to find out. - Melody of China - (www.melodyofchina.com) - Clarion Music - (www.clarionmusic.com) - Lark in the Morning - (www.larkinam.com) - Chinese Music Learning Center - (?)
Certain of these shops require more than a little Caveat Emptor, so it really helps if you know how to select a good instrument.
Best wishes,
David

I received a big order of instruments from Cadenza yesterday, one of which was a D dizi. YouLanFengChune's pride in his new flutes is not misplaced. I have not had a chance to give it a thorough going-over, but I like what I see and hear. The embouchure has been carefully carved, and everything I have examined about it shows attention to detail. I look forward to playing it with a dimo membrane.
Best wishes,
David

I'm planning to buy a set of dizis in China this winter along with a pro rosewood dragonhead erhu. I can't wait to get them.
The dizi you got sounds really good. My dizis aren't that good of sound to me anymore. I think the quality is going down. So when I get to China, I can at least test the instrument to see how the sound is like.

I'd love to; but I'm part of a tour in that region for about a day. Then I fly down to Guangzhou where I'm staying for the rest of my trip. It's where my family is from. I'm going to shop in music stores in those regions. Sorry!!!

if you're going to suzhou, visit one of my ol friends there. He taught us in singapore a few things abt erhu. if you're in shanghai, and planning to buy a real beauty of an erhu, visit another of my mentor friends. She sends parts to us, and her erhus are rated BEST in the world, and there even a fan club for her erhu.....

Does she have a brand name? I don't think I have much time to wander that big city by myself! If she does, then I'll see if any music shops in the Guangzhou region have them.

nope her wholesale erhu price is higher than my retail price, and NO JOKE, they are so expensive.
her name is hu han rou. A lot of fake instruments circulate in her name. hence, my best bet, when i buy from her, meant for my friends, I will ask for a picture WITH her and the erhu.
FYI, she has not been with her FORMER employer, Dunhuang Music Co "YUN" for 5 years. A lot still bear her name, to her great displeasure.

Yes, Hu Han Rou is right up there with Wang Geng Xing. We sell their erhus, as well as 'Yun' brand erhus.
I'm not sure my prices are lower than her 'wholesale prices', but please feel free to check with me as well if you're interested, just to make sure you make a well informed decision.
Thanks, Sung Wah
