Hi Wang, Qudi tends to be longer and larger than bangdi, usually used in the southern (well, jiangnan) part of china, especially in the kunqu opera music and style of music. It usually is in the key of C or D (3 holes covered). The bangdi is shorter, higher key, and is used more in the northern parts of China. it usually has the keys of E, F, G, small A.
Xindi, hmm, usually refers to a dizi without the membrane hole ( so essentially a bamboo flute in the normal sense westerners know about). Also, in some cases, xindi also refers to the dizi which also has keys (like the boehm flute), in an attempt to give the dizi a chromatic scale, however, it also does not have the membrane hole.
so, I guess, in terms of which is higher, the complete scale goes like this.. for dizis with membrane hole (mokong), beiyin dadi (bass big dizi), da di( big dizi), qudi, bangdi, (xiao di?) xindi, err.. not sure exactly where it goes, maybe between dadi and qudi?
Hope this helps..
