Hi all, I have yet another question for everyone! Everytime after I finish practicing the dizi, I make sure to swab it before putting it back into place (otherwise fungus seems to grow).. However, everytime I swab it, I almost accidentally very slightly nudge against the cork.. especially trying to get those hard to reach areas near the cork (cleaning completely wth water is only an option once in a while, since there is the dimo)
I am wondering if anyone knows what is used to secure the cork in the dizi in place? I don't want to move hte cork accidentally whilst cleaning, putting the whole dizi out of tune. Is it very easy to move the cork in the dizis??

AVOID At all costs from touching the cork.
Cadenza dizi have a movable cork, though snugly tucked to prevent movement. Nudging may move the cork, which is moved for tuning, tonal and even response purposes. By moving the cork, i can make the basses of the dizi low and deep, or the highs shrill and sweet...
Fungus won't grow that easily. If u really need to clean, put a pieace of cloth, attached to a string, attached to small lead weight through the blow hole. and let it fall through.

Hello Yinhao! Thanks for the information. But now I am a bit worried actually. How much force do you need to move the cork for adjustments? Is even a slight touch/nudge enough to dislodge it? When I nudge against it, it is more like touching the cork, but at any rate I will now try the cloth cleaning technique.
Also, do you know what will happen to the tune/tone/etc.. if the cork is moved slightly inwards?

move it inwards a bit, the tone will tend to be deeper. BUT at the exprense on the highs. the balance is important.
