Hi all! I would love to find sheet music for The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughn Williams for the erhu. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Best Wishes, Lisa

I would not mind being wrong about this, but I suspect that your best option is to get a violin score for "The Lark Ascending" and arrange it yourself for erhu. If it is jianpu you want, I think it unlikely you will find it. Usually, Western music is played from staff notation, while Chinese music is played from jianpu. I don't claim this is necessarily true in all cases, but is probably most likely as the difficulty of the music increases.
If you need to play the The Lark in a different key, you could enter in the score using a notation program such as Finale or Sibelius, and then have the music transposed as you wish. There are not any short-cuts of getting the music converted to jianpu, but you could use S-MUSIC to manually create the jianpu score.
Now if someone else responds with the title of a book with the jianpu score, I will take back all of the above. <g>
Best wishes,
David

Thanks so much for the idea. I hope I can find the score already done in jianpu. Would be such a time saver. Thank you so much for the help.
Best Wishes Lisa

Check my Flickr site (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dsouthwood/) for guides to transposing Western to Jianpu notation. You'll have to add the symbols for bowing and flourishes yourself. Once you have the numbers down, of course, you can designate 1= whatever note you want.
Good luck Dennis

I've got a book called "erhu yanzou shijie mingqu 100 shou" (100 world pieces for erhu) edited by Zhao Hanyang. It's got jianpu arrangements of classical pieces, and also of folk tunes from various countries, eg Air on a G string (or D string!), Ave Maria-Gounod/Bach, Largo-Handel, A minor violin concert-Bach, Londonderry Air etc. It also includes 2 crazy pieces; Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen and Carmen Fantasy!

It hasn't got The Lark Ascending though.
