Hey all: We're getting regular posts inquiring about erhu teachers. I propose that we compile a master list of teachers or organizations that have been helpful in finding a teacher. This way someone could simply look at this list and (hopefully) find a teacher not too far from them. How about we get a note from anyone who knows of a teaching resource - their name, location, and contact info. I'll start: Here's a good contact for the Seattle area, the Chinese Art and Music Association: www.uschinamusic.com/about/And, of course, anyone living near Spokane, Washington, can contact me for beginner lessons! Umm. Ill go 2.
Living in the bay area, we have many teachers here. I understand that there is the melody of China ensemble. Dont know if they are still giving lessons though. And if your high school or younger, you can go to laney college where there is a traditional chinese orchestra. They have great teachers there. Just contact me for more info.

Lisa and Jetz:
Thanks! I am going to wait for more posts and resources, then put up a list as a sticky note, sort of a "check-here-first" list for people interested in learning erhu.
SO COME ON you other folks - let's hear from around the US, Canada, England, and wherever else you live and have found erhu teaching resources. How about hearing from Dennis in San Diego or some of our friends in LA?

I don't think my teacher wants to be on the list by name, but you can put me down as a contact for erhu lessons in the Portland area. I can refer those interested privately.
Teachers for other Chinese instruments come and go as well in the Portland area.
Best wishes,
David
