...over other snake species? Granted, reticulated pythons are of relatively large diameter, and they are indigenous to the "Old World" rather than, for instance, anacondas.
I might feel less guilty with an erhu equipped with Diamondback skin. =)

reticulated is diamond python! Its a skin used only by Music Fantasia in Singapore. Usually, python molorus is used in china.
Python skin is tough compared to many other skin.

I think spansar is referring to diamondback rattlesnake, which is rather annoyingly abundant in some areas of the USA. Rattlesnakes are probably not nearly large enough to provide skins suitable for an erhu. The thickness might be a problem also.
It seems to me that a while back we were discussing a larger snake that lives in Florida that might be large enough though. Exporting snake skins to Asia for making erhus seems a little surreal. <g>
