Hi everyone. Does anyone have the famous "Reel Around the Sun" sheet music? The song is from Riverdance and is a really famous Irish dance song. I'd prefer it in jianpu but if it is in staff music, that's ok to. All the help is welcome!!!!

I might have it. My Irish band (celticnots.com) played a number of Riverdance tunes with our local symphony, and we had to pretend we knew what we were doing with sheet music Carlos

I just looked up the riverdance music in the books from online. The contents always have reel around the sun with a page or two. How is this possible?! The song is so long and (6 min including the irish flute solo) it's only 2 pages max?

Again, I speak of my observations from my very limited exposure to music, but I have noticed that alot of songs are that way. It seems that performed pieces (especially solo/small ensemble type) are full of improvisation and embellishment that are not written in any music. The more i listen to the same songs recorded by different artists i am becoming acutely aware of what constitutes a performance. It's not just playing music, its a subtle melange of creative expressions that roll into a work that is greater than the sum of its parts. From what i've seen of riverdance (sorry, cant sit through it ... I love most of the music, but the dancing gets old for me) it seems to be a larger than life display of frenentic performing. Not that its a bad thing... It is what it is and that is what it is and what i say won't change that. Now, Since ive past the legal limit of big words this week ill let you be.

Reel Around The Sun - found it: www.thesession.org/tunes/display/5753then go to the "sheetmusic" tab. By the way, this site, thesession.org, is a great resource for a huge number of traditional Irish tunes. It also has a discography for each tune, so one can hear it played by a number of people. To print, at least on a Mac, right-click the notes to "open image in new window" which will then be just the sheet music without the frames. This can then be printed. Oh yeah - it's also got every song in ABC format. WHAT? You don't know what ABC format is? It's a musical notation format using letters and numbers in a text file instead of staff. Here's The Irish Washerwoman jig in sheet music: and the same exact music in ABC format: X: 1 T: Irish Washerwoman, The M: 6/8 L: 1/8 R: jig K: Gmaj |:BGG DGG|BGB dcB|cAA EAA|cAc edc| BGG DGG|BGB dcB|cBc Adc|BGG G3:| |:BGG DGG|BGB BAG|AFF DFF|AFA AGF| EGG DGG|CGG B,GG|cBc Adc|BGG G3:| The very cool thing about ABC format is that people have written programs to play this music from your computer. You simply open a text file, as above, and you can immediately hear it. Carlos
