If you revere the erhu you may wish to skip this email. Otherwise, if you are not opposed to some irreverent fun-loving songs featuring the erhu, check out the following link: www.joelquarrington.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=48&Itemid=38You will find a list of MP3s by Joel Quarrington, who might just be the Weird Al or Bob Rivers of the erhu. Maybe both of them combined. Best wishes, David

Scandalous! But funny. I'd have more appreciation if he played it well.

Yeah, I wish he played better. According to the interview, he had a lesson with George Gao. George probably wishes he wouldn't spread that around.
Best wishes,
David

Well, if he only had 1 lesson with George Gao, GG would be proud of that. His slow numbers sound better than his attempt at blues and jazz licks.

Hi David, Thanks for sharing this! I really enjoyed the "Duelling Erhus" song. Absolutely loved the sound of the banjo, but the erhu playing kinda reminds me of my own playing. Like kindergarten level playing, but still having fun. May If you revere the erhu you may wish to skip this email. Yes, it is rather silly. The funny thing is that Joel Quarrington is principal bassist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, so he should be able to play a lot better if he wanted. Apparently he is having too much fun just playing for laughs.
Best wishes,
David

I would love to find a funny video or something on erhu from a good player. The following is on fiddle and provides a clue to the possibilities: www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-0R-WlpgwQBest wishes, David

Ahhhhhhahaha This stupid ting tong music is great hahaha so very wrong, do you think people actually buy this music? You just can't mix Erhu with hillbillie music, it's just not right haha That should give you guys and girls some confidence if your thinking of bringing out an album
