I was wondering what you use to stop your qin from sliding around the table? I currently use these rubbery non-slip pads which does the job, but I read on the label that they shouldn't be used extensively on lacquered surfaces. Traditionally, sandbags is the best to use. I used them at various yajis and they did the job as well as slightly improving the sound quality, so I am thinking of getting one. But, I don't know where to get them from. Apparently, I can get them from Taiwan, but I can only get them if they are sold on the internet somewhere. I don't want to DIY one as I think that will be rather crappy.

I didn't think they were available! A DIY version probably would be rather poor. My knowledge of leather working is limited to going shopping for it.
I will start searching for them, but as yet haven't seen ANY guqin accessories on the sites I have been to.
Do you happen to know the Chinese characters for them?

In the Wuzhizhai Qinpu they are called 琴墊 (Qin Dian) or qin cushion/pad.

I am not sure that this will help on qin, but for my dan bau I use sticky back velcro strips to keep it from sliding around on the stand. If you need solid contact between qin and table for increased resonance, the velcro might not be a good choice. At least it would be easy and inexpensive to try.
Best wishes,
David

So far I have not had any success, but I will keep looking!
Just a thought - might a local leatherworker be able to make something that suffices?
