Are there any masters here? Anyone mastered the erhu yet? Professional erhu musician? In an orchestra? Or starting planning a career in erhu? I am starting to. I curently am starting to study the erhu seriously, and practicing whenever I have free time. So I practice about 2 hours on erhu and about 2 on dizi. I want to master the erhu before I turn 18 and also want to attend a conservatory in China during the summer for summer courses, if that is possible. So what's your status as an erhu player?

My status as an erhu player is that I am having a ton of fun learning to play the instrument and the music. I still annoy my family and cat but for some reason my teacher thinks I am good enough to play in public occasionally. I truly hope to play well enough to please people, but if I am still on the road to mastery at age 98, I will be quite happy. <g>
Best wishes,
David

Hello are there any erhu students in Portland Oregon who would like to get together and play and chat about erhu. I am new to the instrument and would like to meet others in the area. I am a retired woman and have no musical background so could use any help. Thanks

Well Rozz, you have my number. <g> Unfortunately my spare time has been precious lately. I will get back in touch when my schedule opens up. If you need a teacher who is around more often, you might give Dr. Yang a call.
Best wishes,
David
