hi yeah im going to try mu hand at makin one (i wanna try a jinghu and a "pre revolutionary jinghu = green skin and hardwood neck ") and i also have to re-pi my erhu.

The skins are priced by Grade and metre. For making Erhu, there ,ust be no damages to the scales and skin (small holes in rare occurence is OK)
I recoomend a small snake for you from start 2.5m,, vietnamese snake. $130 per metre. I suggest you take the whole snake, as there are various parts from the worst to trhe best parts all on 1 snake. There will be unhappiness if you find the best parts gone. Similarly, my side doesn't want to sell only the best parts.
to be honest, this grade of snake is good for the lower end erhus only. Since you're only using for fun, you can use it.
