Hi everyone,
I live in US and I am looking to purchase a Dong Xue Hua 8885 Dizi. Can you recommend me a reputable online shop that sells authentic Dong Xue Hua 8885? I found a few but I am just afraid that I will be getting a fake one.
Thank you in advance! -Dave

Try Eason from Singapore. There are others but I and a few others have had great service from them. (Sorry for not replying sooner)

Hi Ed, Sorry for the late reply, did not realize it until I checked this forum today. Yes, I purchased an Erhu from Eason and was satisfied, but they did not have DXH 8885 Dizi, so I ended up buying it from Dan Tang (www.diziflute.com). He has a channel in YouTube. I never purchased anything from Dan, but the dizi I received from him looked excellent so I just trusted it was authentic. Dan was also great in pre and post sales support. PS: This forum seems to be very quiet, is there any other forum that people go to for discussion about Dizi? Thanks, Dave

I've taken my erhu and guitar with me to work abroad but am so up to my neck in work I rarely play my guitar let alone mt erhu. That may change when I return to London. There must be various forums on FB. Best wishes, Ed

Thank you in advance! -Dave Hello Dave Should you encounter this post again: I've taken up the dizi again and will be having tuition. I didn't know there were different grades to Dong Xue Hua dizis, 8881 to 8886. The cost of the 8886 seems to me an extortionate sum to pay for a bamboo dizi. I don't know what level DXH dizis sold by Eason are (somewhere between '1 and '6) but they are more than sufficient for me and I guess they are the best bang for the buck as regards to DXH. Redmusicshop sells a DXH 8885 for a reasonable sum compared to Aliexpress or Taobao. I've bought from them before and they are reputable. My own personal concern about buying more dizis is the left thumb pain I get after only a short while of playing, probably due to years of holding a Cantonese wok. Ed

I've been investigating DXH dizis and found a wealth of information about them on YT. They are all Vietnamese, one has a store: linhdizishop.comI thought they were very reasonably priced until I converted the Vietnamese Dong to the US Dollar. The 885 is almost the same price as the 885 sold at Redmusicshop. I don't understand Vietnamese and I'm unsure if linhdizishop accepts Paypal so I'm unlikely to purchase from them. After I've settled down with my new dizi tutor I might email redmusicshop and negotiate them on a 8885, with a polite but take it or leave it attitude. Ed

Do you believe in fate, are there such things as coincidences?
I emailed Hongyueqi (don't know if he still owns redmusicshop) with a very polite letter explaining how I've been a repeat customer over the years etc. etc. and asked for a discount of ... I sent the email and was then fiddling around with the dimo of my concert grade D XB and then absolutely loved the tone and was beginning to regret sending that email. I then got a notification saying the email had't been sent. I had missed typed the address.
I think I'll stick to my plan and wait.
