I was looking for a new Guzheng picks online. After a few researches, I found this type of picks are especially more expensive than the others It is currently $60.00 at chinesezither.net I found this one in tmall.com (chinese e-commerce website) Which is currently RMB 591.00 or approximately $86.60 This one is cheaper but still quite expensive IMO Currently RMB 219.00 or $32.09 Can somebody shed light on what and why Guzheng picks with this shape are so expensive? I recognize these picks are "Conservatory Style" picks but does the shape alone contributes to the price?

Guzheng pick prices vary with the size, thickness, and material. "Natural" material usually means tortoise, which has ethical and legal implications. The tortoise picks sound great but are the most expensive.
I suppose the prices also vary with the vendor. Sources outside of China are likely to be more expensive.
Best wishes,
David

Best wishes, David They still makes picks with REAL tortoise shell? I thought it was discontinued already. So how do we differentiate between faux and real tortoise shell picks?
