I was thinking of playing the bawu just for fun and I decided to get a double piped one in the keys of F+Bb... www.redmusicshop.com/Bawu/Professional%20Purple%20Bamboo%20Bawu%20Flute,%20Double%20pipe I found this model on redmusicshop... Based on experiences/thoughts, do you think it is high quality enough to play without struggle/unwanted noise? Also I already have a bawu, in G, which I don't use often, and I find that when I cover all holes, it makes a WEEAEAEEEAEEEE sound, kind of muffled, etc... is there a way to make the sound more clean? Danks

The bawu takes a lot of breath which needs to come from the bottom of the lungs rather than just the top. I find the hulusi easier to play.

I already tried the bawu, as a beginner... I'm looking for advice on buying another with better quality. You share good advice though, hulusi is easier to start with than bawu.

I have hulusis and bawus of differing costs and my teacher has borrowed a couple for performances. For him what's most important is that all the notes are completely in tune. This is impossible to test when you buy on-line. You can buy rosewood bawu/hulusis but I don't remember seeing professionals use one.
