Hey all,
I'm hoping to perform a set of songs at Burning Man this year (not like an official performance, more of a noodle-in-the-corner kinda thing) but most of the songs I've practiced as homework are really short. The only ones I have of any considerable length are Xiao Fang Niu, Zai Shui Yi Fang and Trail of the Angels. Does anyone have other suggestions for slow easy-ish songs to fill up a considerable set? Bonus points for anything related to Mongolian warriors (a friend of a friend is bringing a giant statue of one as an art piece).
I have C, D, E and F key dizis but hoping not to have to switch too much.
Also, anyone tried to bring flutes to a desert before? My teacher said it's okay, that the main problem is when it's cold and then you play, which turns it warm too fast and then it may crack.

I am a beginner Xiao player and there are nice pieces in practice books or from films which I think are great. I’ve played them on Xiao so dizi should be no prob:
男儿无泪 - Men do not shed tears. 送别 - Farewell. 但愿人长久- based on Song Dynasty Chinese poem by Su Dong Po. Well wishes for friend/lover who’s far away. 城里的月光 - Moonlight in the city. Romantic sounding. 梦中的额吉 - an actual Mongolian song recalling and praising mothers. It’s uplifting. 万水千山纵横 - based on a Chinese martial arts novel. The song is warrior like and uplifting.
These are some I recall offhand. If need more I can check my scores collection. You can Google the scores by appending the words 简谱. Have fun.

Thanks so much phoenixiao! I'm going through them all now; just what I needed - beautiful tunes and not too difficult I also acquired a xiao recently, so I can try what kind of flute they sound better on. I do much prefer the sound of a xiao for slow tunes, and I didn't have too many of those (my teacher likes to give me challenging homework of fast songs!) so thanks again
