Does anyone know where I can get a professional level Dizi with a lip plate on the blowing hole as found in the Boehm flute ?
Someone mentioned “I find this makes for easier playing as well as adding more volume and richness than the simple hole found on most transverse bamboo flutes” .
Do you agree ?
I also hear that bamboo flute are harder to make good sound for biginners.
Is this due to lack of lip plate ?

I have never seen a dizi with a lip plate. I have seen and played USA-made bamboo flutes with lip plates. They were very different animals from my Chinese flutes, so it is hard to compare. If the embouchure is cut carefully, I don't think it matters that much.
I suspect that beginners have trouble getting good sound on the traditional dizi due to lack of skill and maybe lower quality flutes. The development of the embouchure with a focused air stream takes years. Mastery is an ongoing process.
An experienced dizi student/master will have more experience choosing a good instrument, and will also probably have easier access. The best dizis are likely priced higher than beginners are willing to pay. A dizi can be purchased for very little, and this makes it a friendly option as a first instrument. However, the dizi is a challenging instrument to play well, and especially challenging without a good teacher.
Best wishes,
David
