I'm interested in building some Xiaos for myself. Does anybody have directions, information on where to put the finger holes etc.

Welcome to the forum, vidalm. I don't know where you can find plans for making a xiao, but you might buy one and take your own measurements. The measurements and ratios are probably the same as for transverse flutes, so don't limit your search for plans to just xiao.

Some people think that they can make the Xiao flute. However, the quality of flutes have to meet some minimum requirements like: easy to make the sound on 3 octaves, can play on 2.5 octaves (from C4 to G6 on C4 key flute), the frequency of 3 octaves on Xiao flutes must be balance. Not easy to make a good quality Xiao but you can make the Xiao for yourself with basic quality very easy.
