Hi. I would like to know where to buy the best dimo for my dizi. If I could buy it on amazon, that would be preferable. Thanks!

Hi nzk13,
That's a tough question. Both a friend and my music teacher get their dimo in person when they go back to China. I don't know how he gets away with it but my teacher opens every packet and chooses only the best.
I suspect any dimo bought on-line or at a shop would have been sitting there a while. I used to change my dimo very regularly but now I can't be bothered and haven't noticed any adverse effects.
I'd get the 'Professional' ones rather than the bog standard student ones as they're finer. Have you tried Easons or Redusicshop?

I tend to buy dimo membrane from Eason Music. Both Eason and Red Music Shop sell on Amazon and Ebay, as well as their own websites. It is best to get dimo membrane that is as fresh as possible, since it does go stale and brittle over time. You might ask about that when ordering.
I have used both Ming Gui and Dunhuang. I slightly prefer the Ming Gui, but freshness matters more.
Best wishes,
David
