Hello everyone! I recently got a synthetic skin erhu from easonmusic (wonderful erhu by the way) and I had a question about the pegs and strings. Are the strings supposed to touch the pegs? The inner string is stuck on the side of the outer erhu peg. Is it supposed to do that? imgur.com/a/bzkf9

Both strings need to be on the same side (facing you) with the D-string attached to the upper peg, and the A-string to the lower peg. And yes, they do tend to touch.

paul...

I can't view the photo, so I am not sure that I understand the question. The inside string (D) is attached to the top peg, and loops off to the left. The outside string (A) is attached to the bottom peg and loops off to the right. The inside string will lay past the lower peg, and maybe barely touch it. The top string should not wrap around the lower peg. If the top string rests closely against the bottom peg, check to make sure it is not looped off the top peg incorrectly. Again, the inside string should loop off to the left, the opposite side than the inside string.
Best wishes,
David
