hello guzheng experts,
my next project is to buy my first reserve guzheng strings.
I did some online shopping but which Dunhuang strings to buy
here are my questions
1. i saw a picture with letters A, B and C...
~what does it mean? ~are those letters represent a special sound(bright, warm etc)
those letters are found at the lower right hand portion of the guzheng string envelope.
2. i also saw dunhuang strings "as is" meaning no letter as described in question # 1. how does this set differ from the one with letters
your help will be totally appreciated.
feeling determined,
yujin ~violinvampire~

Carol at Sound of Asia is best equipped to provide a rundown on guzheng strings. I suggest emailing her.
Best wishes,
David

The A strings are the regular strings. B strings are proffesional (hard to bend but they sound good). C strings are diatonic strings (you get fa and si without pressing) Or you can ask carol she's the expert on this type of matter
