Hello! I was recently gifted a suona, and I'm having some difficulty setting the instrument up. If I created a short YouTube video with the instrument in tow, could someone perhaps help me out? Very much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, James. If the suona is like other double-reed instruments, such as the oboe and duduk, you are probably going to need a teacher to get your suona set up correctly. I don't know any more about double-reeds than I have learned by observing my oboe-playing friend, but I understand that there is a lot to know about making, maintaining, and adjusting the reed. The suona is not nearly as popular as other Chinese instruments, so finding resources online is going to be a challenge. You might contact Sung Wah at Eason Music in Singapore. He is in the process of setting up online lessons for several instruments. I don't know if suona is one of them, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Best wishes,
David

I don't know the instrument personally, but I have an idea. Can you read Spanish? The suona is also apparently used in Spanish speaking countries. It is known there as the trompeta china or corneta china(Chinese trumpet). If you find a resource I'll try to use my mediocre Spanish and translate it for you. The repertoire is different but the basic posture and fingerings are similar if not the same.
