I have always found it a bit annoying when you want to work on one part of a tune and its hidden 5 minutes into a track - lots of messing with foward and pause etc....
well i have finally decided to do sommert about it!!!
with the help of audasity by soundforge (free) I have now split 9 minutes of Pu an Zhou up into its different parts, each on a seperate mp3.
To make things perfect so i can play along to the mp3, I plan to record a 1-2-3 (before each part) to give me time between pressing play on the computer and readying myself at the qin.
A weird waste of time maybe.....but I think its a damn good way to practice the rythmn etc.
If i dont get laughed at too much I will post them...somewhere!

The best software aid I have found for finding your way through sound files is called Transcribe! The unique thing about this one is that you can put your own comments at different places in the tune, as well as marking multiple sections for looping, etc. A trial version can be gotten at www.seventhstring.com/BTW, I have no connection with the program, just think it works really well. - Tod
