hello I am new here, nice to meet you! I am looking for a dizi for my girlfriend's birthday. I am looking for a lower sound dizi (qu di or even lower) and I have 2 questions:
1. which is easier for a beginner to handle (qu di da di etc) 2. where can I find a reliable place to buy a dizi? I intend to invest 100$-200$.
(I forgot to write, but I do not live in place where I can buy dizi at. I should order it from oversea. )
thank you!!

Thank you for your quick answer! why is da di so challenging? do you think this is possible to start with it anyway? she isn't a fan of high sounds and qu di is pretty high as well.

Hi Nukito and welcome,
The bass dizis are more challenging to play because: the finger stretch is more, more breath is needed to control the tone and a lot of tunes are composed for the D dizi anyway. The other extreme, the high G is also difficult to play because the embrochure has to be very precise.
Why not get both, though not necessarily from the same seller. I got a budget, custom made left handed bass G for my teacher and I love the tone. Curiously he has tiny hands (which I never noticed before)and that's probably the main reason why I seldom see him play it.

There seem to be so many choice. I think sometime I would like to learn but it is really hard to get a good tone. A friend plays it and it seems great to have to carry everywhere. A pipa is too big sometime. Jock - I look at your site and there are too many with changes in prices between options. How do you tell the good one from the bad one? I check the many pipas on your site - they all look very nice but I know some of them will be much worse than my Shanghai Dunhuang 561M. I worry someone will buy it and be badly disappointed. My 561M is not great, and it was not cheap. Maybe too much choice is confusing for buyers because there is no description of detail about the pipas. The same goes for dizis on the site. I think I would only choose by the looks of the pipa or flute on the website then, and that is not a good way
