Having recently starting taking blood-pressure and cholesterol meds, I now have dry mouth. This is not good when playing the xiao. Well, I found a clever product to combat this - Xylimelts! They're little lozenges that adhere to the roof of the mouth, so they don't interfere at all with my embouchure. One will keep my mouth moist for almost an hour. I've gotten them from Amazon and Ebay.

Sorry to hear about your medical problems. A lot are diet related, I chef in a msg-free Chinese vegan restaurant six days a week, and on my day off I'm not too bothered what I eat. Also I don't meditate as much as I should.
If anything my mouth can get too wet when playing my flutes.
