Ah! Finally Eason's new site is up-- congratulations to Sung Wah and may business be as good as ever! Browsing through the new site, I immediately went to the xiao page... and right then I was stricken by sudden sticker shock at the new prices. My old DXH now sells for $170 ?!!! Wow... I was eyeing the XB nan xiaos Sung Wah told me were coming in... until I saw the actual prices ($220). At that, I thought I'd rather continue saving up to commission a flute from Donsiau (which will be double that, but since I intend to continue playing for a long time, why not.)

Yeah, I too noticed the price hike. But you can roll the dice and go elsewhere cheaper. Flo's advice is only go to a vendor which accepts Paypal, then you have some protection. The old adage, if it's too good to be true .... I'm having difficulties with a vendor who had sold me a turkey of a gaohu.

Thank you Ziman for your congratulations! Yes cost of DXH flutes has increased by quite a lot hence we have no choice but to follow suit. The price listed on our website is what we sell to our walk-ins as well so don't worry they are definitely priced reasonably. We are having a 8% discount for registered customers currently till 25 March so do take this opportunity to see if there is anything you like. Just register on our website and you will get a one time discount code. www.EasonMusicStore.comThank you!

I was actually sort of expecting the price rise, in part because good quality bamboo seems to be getting scarcer (a sentiment I see expressed by the makers from time to time on Chinese xiao forums). And in part because it seems like DXH flutes of the same quality aren't much cheaper in China anyway (from observing prices on Taobao etc... for instance, this store in China is selling DXH's dizis for even more than your shop: detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3.w37595000.56.QdF7sU&id=14902547606&)At the moment I have a somewhat pressing need for an F key xiao, because I've been playing regular duets with a guqin player since last October, and it's quite a pain for the guqin to have to crank up the strings to match my G xiao every time we duet. On the other hand, I'm also slowly... gradually... saving up to commission a flute from Donsiau, so the pocketbook is tight at the moment. Ah, if I had a six-figure income (but then work life might get too busy for xiao-playing...) [g]
