I finally picked up a Zhongruan (well, it's on the way) and I'm in need of some music to play on it. Does anyone know of online sources of tunes playable on this instrument. I'm thinking downloadable, public domain (free or nearly free) would be good.
I'm familiar with jianpu notation but may need some time to get proficient at translating it to the tuning and techniques of the Zhongruan so some less complex pieces (read, simple!) would be most welcome to start.
Also, for much of your repertoire needs, where do you folks buy, order, find your music. I've spent a few evenings searching online but have been a little frustrated with my findings so far.
Any help would be most gratefully accepted.

Congratulations on your new zhongruan. What did you get? I'll have to look at my zhongruan book for scores.

Thanks Ed. I'm not exactly sure of the maker or brand but in looks and specs it's identical to this one from Eston, except the soundholes are more like the violin "f" instead of the crane: www.eason.com.sg/products/ruan/tbzr2.jspI picked it up from music instrument collector whos friend brought it back from Beijing a couple years ago and it never got played. I'm excited as my wifes girlfriends husbands (all chinese guys) have been asking me to join their music group. I've played classical guitar and Renaissance lute forever so they think I can play anything...we'll see about the reality of that. The ruan and its technique seem the closest to what I'm used to so...we'll see.

If you got the same as Eason's then you very lucky. SGN makes the best zhongruans. I had a few guitar lessons over twenty years ago and I thought the zhongruan must be easier with just four strings and only using a pick. Shortly after buying my liuqin and zhongruan my teacher, the Uk's only professional ruan player left the Uk for good <g>
Valdae plays the zhonguan well, in a more Western style, after having played the guitar.

Ok, found some tunes so thought I'd share the link in case anyone else needs some simple material. Not necessarily zhongruan (ehru and a few other instruments) but should be something useable to learn to read the printed notes on the instrument. www.melodyofchina.com/12score/music.html

I had a quick look at the link and Jasmine Flower is easily playable on the zhongruan.
