I bought one from maiqin and made my own opinion about the other shop.
The maiqin flute is very nice and good, but it's not the same quality than DXH. I think that someone else on the forum bought from them and was not so satisfied than I was.
At your place I would buy the third one, but from Eason music. They are very reliable, so you're sure you will really get the best quality from DXH (not a lower range).
Best wishes,
Flolei

Hai Flolei Thanks a lot for the comment If you don't mind, may i know which flute that you bought from maiqin.com?? If we don't compare it with the one from DXH, in average, does maiqin flute have a nice sound?? Most of their flute in my opinion have a very good design.. I saw three kinds of DXH flute from Eason, which one do you recommend the most?? Do you ever buy at redmusicshop??or, maybe do you ever try the DXH flute that are in the redmusicshop?? From the website, i saw that Eason is a very good place, but the one i don't like is that they never replied my email Hehe

Personnaly, I would choose the E one, which is far high enough for my ears ! Strange that Mr. Tang didn't answer to you. Did you write directly to him? (and more in a personnal message!)

The most useful dizi keys for Chinese music are D and G. The high G dizi is not great to start on since it is a rather highly pitched, the finger holes are uncomfortably close together, and requires control in breath and lips that a beginner does not have. The low G dizi has a lovely sound, but the finger stretch will be a challenge to manage unless you have large hands. The D is a good key since it is reasonably comfortable in finger stretch and other playing characteristics, and there is a lot of music in D. For the Tim Liu "2 Measures at a Time" dizi course, you will need a C dizi. It is a comfortable size also, even if less used in Chinese music.
Best wishes,
David

Hi Robin
Thanks for the ppm. I suggest you get a D DXH or C DXH from Eason. I have an E DXH (it's a long story how I got it) but haven't got to the stage where I use it much.

Hi Robin In future please keep your questions to the forum rather than ppm, solely because if you have a question, no matter how small, there will be others who would have the same question and there are others who are much more knowledgable than moi I'll have to ask my friend which dizi book he uses, though I am really awful with the computer! I'm currently learning 'Gusu Xing', Journey to Gusu. I think I'm pretty ok with it but my teacher has some backing music for it which parts of it goes at an incredible speed. There came a point where I became absolutely sick and bored of the tune. Together with long hours at work, and my inability to sleep at night has prevented me from practising as much as I should. If you have a F dizi I would invest in a D, then C before considering getting a Bb then low G. Best wishes Ed

Dont know the other, but Eason is great. The DXH are wonderful. Beautfully made, solid build quality, and rich powerful sound. I bought from them a D and low A, and now just booked a C which is better than the 2 other Cs I have. I must have 20+ flutes by now, but the DXH are awesome. the price keeps going up as demand rises, so its good to get a few and bargain for a good price now.

I'm curious to know what make of dizi your C's are? I have several and they ALL are on the high pitched side. I know this as when I listen to 'Gusu Xing' on cd or youtube, it's definately lower.
