It was a very good performance. As well as playing ensemble each instrument also played solo. The Sheng solo was unusual (for me). The usual favourites were there: Racing Horses, Moon Reflected on Second Spring...on the erhu and Gusu Xing on the dizi.
It was a pity the turnout was low.

Sounds like fun. Regarding turnout, publicity is hard to do right. I bet there were plenty of people who would have come had they known about it. I love playing in a venue where there is a built-in audience, like an arts series, as long as it is not too large. Chinese music doesn't really scale up very well.
Best wishes,
David

The best audience were those who had no connection with the ensemble; and they were few. Most seemed to be SOAS students or friends and relatives.
