Yet another impromptu session in creating a sculpture of a musician. In my last post, it was a pipa player. In this case, it's a xiao player, although the xiao itself wasn't included in the sculpture! Sometimes wonder how that artist makes friends with xiao and dizi makers in Taiwan . . . . . . donsiau.net/gs/gs4.htm

Fantastic! He's such an inspiring xiao figure in the contemporary world of the xiao. Love seeing what he's up to. Stuff like this - demo sessions for ambitious newcomers - stockbrokers, financiers who wish to start big: Blow harder! And this one which has solved the ever troublesome quest, between 5 finger hole or 7 hole finger hole xiao flutes. Why not just go for the whole hand - all six pairs?

Allen - can you bring a few of these bottom ones in your hand luggage. Should fit like a piece of cake lol.

For this one I have no idea where you can put it on the plane! Probably your coat will be too small!

Well you could fork US$2000 for a xiao like this:

You'll need more than one coat to cover that xiao and sneak it on the plane Allen! Sadly I'll have to pass on this one - my fingers won't stretch to even the top hole lol. Those liuqins are pygmy sized in comparison What an amazing selection of musical instruments though - xiaos; dizi flutes; sanxians ...liuqins..ruans...suonas.... where is this shop?

Maybe someone's textbooks and liuqin strings were sourced from over there . . . . . .
