Can anyone recommend a free software based metronome on the Windows operating system platform? Or better yet, any open-source version that is platform independent?

Hi Allen I haven't a clue what you're talking about but I've just bought the same metronome my liuqin teacher uses, a Korg MA-30. I particularly like the LCD pendulum and it's loud!. They can go quite cheaply on eBay. It's much, much better than my other quality metronome, a Seiko SQ44

Have you tried G-string? It's available on the Android platform for free. Not sure about the Windows ... I haven't got my own hand-held metronome anymore. I used to have one of those triangular ones which have a swinging pendulum and all of the speeds, so you just moved the metal weight to the speed (e.g. 80; 110, 140). The 'clock-clock' sound was more interesting than the digital beeping of the electronic ones. Playing solo I don't tend to use a metronome. I just plays slower cuz I likes. Fasters cuz I can, innit

The first result from a search is openmetronome.sourceforge.net/I haven't tried it though. My electronic tuner also has a metronome, I haven't really used that either.
