Hi guys,
I am SO glad to find this forum. Does anyone know where to buy a Guzheng besides from eBay?Do you plan to sell yours?
I just came to UK a few weeks ago and I really missed my Guzheng in China. It's quite impossible for me to bring it here until I go back to China six months or one year later. I think I'd better buy one here.
Thank you very much for your help.
Xin

Hi xinxin
You could ask Xindi (maybe ppm), he has two. Or you could strike a deal with him, lessons in exchange for the use of his guzheng. He goes to China and HK regularly.
ps. your English is excellent.

Dear edcat7,
Thanks a lot for replying. Do you know where to find Xindi? I searched through this forum and did not find her/his information.

Hi Xinxin, welcome to England Ed's right - I ummmm... do have two guzhengs now, but that's only because they are so radically different in sound, that I NEED two of them lol. (They're not for sale btw!) I wonder if you could order one from Carol on the board here. I lugged mine over from Hong Kong (some considerable effort! ) and it's probably better to buy and get it posted here - just the selection overseas is better than the UK, but yes, you do pay more for customs/taxes etc. I've never been to Ray Man, but at least you get to check them out and play them there. Unfortunately guzhengs don't come up frequently second-hand in the UK. Sanmenxia - I know Hobgoblin for their flutes. They are considerably more expensive than other places, but their quality control is pretty much spot on .

Haha. I don't play guzheng well - I just like to improvise on the pentatonic scale, and use it to practice finger dexterity. Guzheng music I hear tends towards being very feminine - I like it to mess around, but would never dream of playing it in an audience. Actually when I did, I had one girl (Grade 1) shout out that my technique was all wrong

From the old Carpenter's song...'Don't worry if it's not good enough, for every one else to hear...' (mum's record, not mine!)
Since most of us on this forum are enthusiatic amateurs anyway it doesn't matter. Though I'm hoping to busk when I retire.

Hé hé.
Now now Ed -
sweet talking me now, isn't going to make me forget ...
the last time you heard one of my flute recordings, you said it sounded like I was auditioning for a vampire movie (and I got the part).

Hi Xinxin - what Guzheng grade are you playing at the moment? Ed can play some tunes beautifully in tempo - he's clearly had a lot of experience with karaoke machines I haven't done ensemble playing since I was a teenager. Have you got a guzheng sorted yet?
