It seems that Han4 Gong1 Qiu1 Yue4 uses all 7 notes (and more) of the F Major heptatonic scale: eason.com.sg/erhu/hangongqiuyue.jpgThe piece description says gu4qu1 (lit. "ancient piece"), so I'm assuming that this is a piece of traditional Chinese music. Why doesn't it fit within the pentatonic scale (which seems to be identical to the Western anhemitonic pentatonic scale) explained in another thread here: Or does it fit, and I'm just not aware? I just realized that if each "[]" represents a 1/2 step then the Chinese scale is not necessarily identical to the Western scale in every case.
