I took advantage of a few days off from work this week to break in my new videocamera. The results are now on Youtube in the form of my first video in three years. This is a Vietnamese lullaby "Ru Con" on the dan bau. The Chinese version of this instrument is duxianqin, or one-stringed zither. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuU6kkefhQwI hope you will find this something different to enjoy. Best wishes, David

Hey David, That is a beautiful song, I am reviving this old thread, I am trying to learn that piece on the erhu, but it is hard, for some reason I still don't hear the melody when I try to play it? I am probably doing it wrong too.
I asked my mom to sing it to me quite a few times, but still my inner Vietnamese musician is sleeping. Do you have any advices since you play both instruments, how should the erhu be played if i'm trying to go for the Vietnamese effect? I am actually considering learning the dan tranh from my aunt just to be able to hear better the sounds of Vietnamese music. Anyway thank you for that video!
