1. this isnt exactly a common instrument where to i buy one? i do live near the Chinatown in NYC would they be available there?
2. if i had to buy one online does anyone know of a reliable vendor?
3. what should i look for in buying one? ( quality wise as i dont want to buy a bad poor quality one)
4. how much does the average one cost?

I second the recommendation of Sound of China (http://www.chinesezither.net/) for instruments and accessories. One very important consideration is that Carol is herself an accomplished guzheng player, and therefore can accurately judge the quality of the instruments she sells. I have purchased other instruments on the Internet from people who did not play them; they had to rely on the manufacturer's hype and had no way of knowing that they were selling bad instruments. I have met Carol, I have been in her shop, and I would trust her.
