About inside string, scientifically. The applications of <ErhuGuanyin>
The inside string at least has two features which do not exist in outside string. 1. The fundamental power is too weak to see it. We can use <ErhuGuanyin> to observe the power of fundamental power and harmonic power, when we play the inside string. It is known that the pitch of the inside string is A4, and harmonic is A5, E5,.... When you turn the microphone to your erhu and play the inside string, you can see the peak hardly near the A4. That means the power the fundamental power is too weak to see.
2. The pitch of inside string changes while we bowing down or up. We can use <ErhuGuanyin> to observe the pitch changing, when you bow the inside string. The pitch becomes a little higher while bowing down and a little lower while bowing up. Why? The reason is that when we bow up, the bow hair add the pressure to the string and make the string move away from you and the tension of inside string becomes looser. This is a structural problem. When we bow up, the position of the bridge on the snake's skin and the position of the qianjin moves to the direction which loosens the tension of the string. Remember that the snake's skin tender.
How to overcome this problem? We make the bow hair near the neck as possible as we can to add little pressure to the inside string.
Maybe you could have a try...
