* * * * * The below story is absolutely true; I hope it to serve as a warning to anyone who might be considering purchasing from Cadenza Creative * * * * * *
I had purchased a very high-grade erhu (Singapore-Suzhou Broad-Leaved Violet Sandalwood Erhu) from Cadenza about little more than a year ago. The instrument itself was beautiful and sounded gorgeous; the minor imperfections with it were the small volume and that the body was heavily scratched on one side. Over all I was decently satisfied with the instrument and loved playing it.
Last September her voice changed dramatically. After troubleshooting just about every aspect of the erhu without success, I noticed that the neck had curved forward. I emailed Cadenza regarding warranty for repair, and to my pleasant surprise, I actually received very timely replies. After some negotiation regarding the shipping cost (which I agreed to pay for all forward shipping, and half of the returning shipping), the erhu was sent on its way on 8th of Sept. The entire erhu was sent because I wanted the scratches on the body to be repaired as well. My erhu apparently experienced a lot of trouble going through the Singaporean custom, but I was informed that it was eventually received and repaired by 27th of October. At the request of Cadenza, the payment method was changed to help reduce their operating cost. I thought, hey, what's good for the erhu store is good for the erhu lovers, right.
And that was the last I heard of my erhu.
Until today, my erhu still has not been shipped back to me. That is more than 2 months later. Even if shipment had taken as long as it did to get there, it should have been returned more than a month ago. Furthermore, Cadenza's owner Yinhao Ye has just been ignoring my repeated email request for further information. I would ask him the same question when I see him on IM, and he would promptly ignore me and simply sign off, in multiple occasions.
To date, I am without my beloved erhu, and the store that I shipped it to for warranty repairs is refusing all communication or clarification. They have held on to my erhu and left me in the dark.
My lesson: DO NOT EVER BUY FROM CADENZA-CREATIVE! IT IS OPERATED BY A DISHONEST PERSON WITH NO BUSINESS ETHICS. HE HAS NO HONOR AND HAS NO RESPECT FOR HIS CUSTOMERS.
Consider my ~$800 lost (original cost and the 2.5x of shipping cost) a price paid for the whole community for this lesson. DO NOT BUY FROM CADENZA-CREATIVE!
