Great - I was looking to see what are the latest qin cd's but seems that for the past few years they have hardly released any qin stuff.
Shame because apart from HUGO I dont really know of any good labels for Qin.
Even HUGO are very slow to make new qin CD's.
What to do.....

I have sent several emails (in Chinese) to the address listed on the page. No response.
The webpage is copyright 2004. I think it is probably an old page for them. Anyone have something newer?
Hugo has stopped listing many of their qin recordings on the website, anyone know what happened?

Actually, if you look at the bottom of Gong Yi's CD cover info, you see that it has a May 2006 release date...

I didn't say that they had stopped releasing recordings.
ROI doesn't respond to queries and Hugo has seemingly removed most of the qin recordings from their site. They are only listing 2 solo qin titles and 2 titles that are compilations with other instruments.
Since they both are excellent sources of qin recordings I was curious as to what has changed.

Cadenza has Hugo CDs. Dunno about what's going on with them.

Hi,
I have just bought a pile of HUGO qin CD's from Singapore. I was enquiring about what I understood to be the latest release (Mei-an school music) and he had no info on it. As I had seen it in the hands of my teacher he guessed its only available in China as now there is a China branch of HUGO.

This CD is apparently available via www.yesasia.com. Search on "Mei An Qin music". I have ordered from Yesasia.com with good results. Best wishes, David

Hi, all, While we're talking webpages, I now can't find/get into the Hugo website. I remember hugomedia.com. Does anyone know if this is right, and/or what happened? K.

Please let me know? You didn't get them from that place in Chinapoint Centre, did you? Is that what's called "Cadenza Music"?

well once upon a time there was an age when HMV Singapore used to be good so i started there, but then due to market forces I was forced to search elsewhere.
The china town point place has a few. My fav place is karl heng music shop, in bras basah complex where they sell chinese books etc and its opposite raffles hotel. Cant remember the address so like me, you might have to wander the corridors of that place for an eternity before you think its cloesd down, then like a shining beacon you will see it in the last corridor you try (thats my usual experience).
Having said that Cadenza also carry the Hugo range.

I was complaining about the lack of new qin CDs in the chinese music specialist shop in Singapore.
They told me that they thought ROI will not make anymore qin CDs cos they say its too expensive and not enough demand.
For Hugo, they told me that they actually have alot of recordings already recorded, but again it is too expensive to produce the CDs and no demand.
The latest Hugo release last year was the Mei-an disc, but it has ommitted the usual english sleeve notes. They said they will ask the Hugo rep in Singapore about this Travesty of Justice!!!!
So to recap - it all looks rather depressing on the new CD front.

latest news flash regarding Hugo:-
they have moved their (lack of) operations to guanZhuo cos its cheaper. Apparently its just a one man show now.

Oo-er. That's bad news. Looks like Hugo CDs will become a bit of a rarity and collector's item now...
