Eek! I want to go but my wallet says 'no'... I would have to stay two nights for this.

Or just go to the actual concert, which is from 7pm -9pm. If you can get the concessions it's £15. There is also a performance of Kunqu at 16:15 - 16:45.
This event was originally named something like International Festival of Daoism, and all the talks and seminars are still to do with Daoism. I'm only going for the music.
edit: just noticed on the booking form the concessions price is for students and retired. update:just found out it's 15 for the unemployed as well.

Although I'm not sure if the Kunqu performance will have live music accompaniment, my guess is that they will probably sing live over recorded music, but I'm hoping they will use live music.

Here's a photo of the musicians performing on stage: OK, just found out they're performing in Leeds Town Hall on Sun 28 Sept and then back in London on Mon 29 Sept at the Leicester Square Theatre (where you can also see... Joan Rivers! Not on the same day though, she's back in Dec after a run in Aug): www.leicestersquaretheatre.com/events.asp?eventid=69&categoryid=1It's on a Mon afternoon so not much use for most working people, but if you can make it, it's your last chance! Here's a taster of what you've all been missing sharebee.com/04beef14 (use Winrar to extract) 5th piece: title is translated as "Qupai Legato" in the programme notes. The Chinese title is "qu pai lian zou" which means a medley of qu3pai2. Qupai is usually translated as 'labelled melody'.
