When playing with the left hand, my teacher told me that I should keep all my fingers together (not thumb), but then i was only using the thumb in that piece.
I wonder if this also applies to using the other fingers, say if i play ring finger, should it look neat and together or seperated?
I can ask her next week end, but i thought i would ask you guys first.

I find putting the fingers together slightly hindering, but gives the thumb more strenght. The same can apply for the ring finger. I have a bad habit of sticking my index finger out when using the ring finger, which looks unelegant, that's why I tend to put my fingers together to correct it. I have an unsual bone structure in my fingers, making them bend back beyond the straight, and they sometime lock in that position if I put pressure on them during play, making it difficult to bend them back forward when needed. You can see that in my pics, the little finger especially.
Do what your teacher tells you.
