YAY I have a biggest fan!!!!!!!! Thank you Bryan! ^_^ What is your guzheng school? If you have any pictures what so ever please post them for all of us to enjoy. I most of all would enjoy seeing a bunch of youth performing and learning together on the guzheng!! What a beautiful world if all kids played guzheng! *Just kidding*. Love all instruments!!!
For performing solo somewhere? I think it depends on if the somewhere's event if it is casual or if it is formal. If it is very artsy or if it is very classy.. Most importantly wear what is MOST COMFORTABLE for you because you are going to be performing in it and if it isn't good for performing you will not perform at your best. :-)
Here are the don'ts: Girls -- do not wear a brides maids dresses with lots of ribbons and mesh poofies! Do not pick neon colors and do not look like a doll that means make up and hair. Look your age and do not look too old fashioned either. Do not show too much skin, you are a guzheng musician/performer not a modern day geisha of guzheng where the focus is on your legs or chest.. Okay boys -- do not wear track pants or jogging pants. Like the girls, please do not dress like you are going to opera or a wedding, please no bow-ties and no flashy metalic colors. Look your age. For both boys and girls, look fashionable but do not spend more on clothes than what you will earn from performing solo. Hope this helps? More soon..

Hey Vi An, I am a big fan too! I have been enjoying your CDs and photos. I fantasize about having enough space to leave a guzheng and dan tranh out to plunk on when I have a few minutes. I bet my four-year-old would love that too. <g>
I usually wear an Ao Dai (ao yaee) when performing Vietnamese traditional music, and used it once also (without the hat) when playing the erhu. At least for performing VN music, people like to see traditional costumes.
Best wishes,
David
