As an non-US citizen I had to Google Thanksgiving, ok I get it. I actually thought it fascinating that while "Thank You" in Chinese is "谢谢" (xìe xìe), "Thanksgiving", as above, is "感恩", pronounced "gǎn'ēn", and the Vietnamese for thank you is "cảm ơn", which is phonetically kinda close... You get some weird connections like that, like that although spoken Japanese is far different from spoken Mandarin, "cute" in Japanese is romanticized as "kawai" and the same in Mandarin is "可爱" or "kě'ài"
