Hello, my friend is a pipa player from China (10 years of being taught) and she would like to play some non-traditional songs because she is tired of those. Do you have suggestions for international classical songs which can be played / transcribed on Pipa?
A few evenings ago we transcribed Nikita Koshkin's "Desert" into jianpu which worked fine after tuning the Pipa to another range. We also saw Wan Yeung playing BMV 999 on Pipa... but we are pretty busy (law degree) and don't really have time to transpose such long songs into jianpu right now.
I already found those useful transposition notes for different keys on this forum and read the prior post on international music. For us the main problem is that so many guitar songs fall out of the tone range of the Pipa. You wouldn't have some list of international music which can be played on the Pipa by any chance?
Best wishes!
Edit: I just realised that Bach's piees for lute might work quite well!
