Hi all! Things are so quiet here. I have ordered a xiao and am awaiting it’s arrival and have bookmarked a couple of you tube videos to help me once I can blow it. Does anyone still use this forum? Is there another place a sadly monolingual English speaking American can find others interested in traditional Chinese music? I hope to also play the tunes on harmonica because they are even more portable than a xiao and also just because I like them!

Hi Crawford,
Yes it's like buses: nothing then they all come at the same time! Sorry I can't help you with the xiao as my main instrument is the erhu. I haven't played my dizi or hulusi in such a long time.
I'm sure there will be other replies.

Thanks I hate to complain, but I find value in sites like this where people with overlapping interests can learn and share. I like the ability to search old posts etc... but it seems that these things are being left in the past like the old yahoo groups. Some that I used to like and participated in are gone... sorry I’m just a cranky old man today.

I've been on this forum a while now and whilst it is not as great as it once was, (and still could be) am immensely grateful for the input of the past members and David Dahl our moderator.

Thanks, Ed. I am afraid that I have been focusing on Vietnamese music lately. My erhu teacher has essentially retired from music and teaching to paint. Most of the Chinese music action is on Facebook, so check there if you are so inclined.
Best wishes,
David
