My husband and I found out pretty quick after having our first daughter that it was impossible to find time for music in parenthood. So we started teaching our daughter music. She has been learning guzheng and drums for almost 2 years and it starting to pay off. Here is a video we just made of her playing both her instruments. www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5eDyN88Bm8

Very cute and talented! What a character. Our daughter studied piano and guitar for a time, but she didn't stick with either, preferring dance instead. As for myself, I had to put away my flutes for a while with the baby in the next room. I found the dan bau to be a good choice, since I could use headphones. I think it is healthy for parents to make time for themselves, but I admit that sometimes there is no energy left. Best wishes, David

Thanks for the feedback David. Totally know what you mean. It is hard to find a balance. Luckily she is still totally into both of her instruments...hopefully it sticks! We have played a few live shows with me on guzheng and my husband on guitar and our daughter on drums. She loves the attention and it makes for good motivation.
Keep playing!
Xinna.
