hello everyone, I have had difficulties disassembling my Dizi. The metal joint was "stuck" and had happenned a few times. I had to use brute force to try to twist it open with my bare hands that I afraid it will crack the Dizi.
Then I came across beeswax grease that's usually applied at the metal joint and I opted for vaseline (product for dry skin) instead.. So far, it solved my problem, but I have a few questions :
1) Is it really okay to grease the metal joint with vaseline to also protect the metal joint from rust? I know that applying too much will make any dust or dirt sticks to the vaseline and make the problem worse, so I clean the metal joint with a piece of clothe and apply a very, very small amount of vaseline (its so small, I can't even feel it on my fingertip)
2) If the metal joint was stuck and could not be disassembled, would it affect the sound of the Dizi? Because I felt that it sounded nicer after I solved the problem.. I could be wrong though.
I think this happens because I never bother to disassemble after practicing for quite a few days.
Any information will be appreciated.

I have had enough trouble with stuck joints that I keep my flutes unassembled when not playing them. I try to keep the joints clean of any lubricant. In my experience, something like vaseline can act like a lubricant, but after a while collects dirt and dust and become more of a glue. I have no such problems with flutes and whistles that I keep clean and unassembled. This is especially important for flutes that you don't play often.
Best wishes,
David
