Within this year I'm planning to learn the dizi, I've seen lots of covers of songs and the different keys of the dizi and what drew me in was the bass G dizi. But since I'm just starting out, do you think it's a good idea for me to start on the bass G dizi? And is there any shops which provide good dizi's? Thanks.

I don't recommend starting with the bass G dizi because the finger stretch can be too much to bear for a beginner. You should try to start with a alto-D or alto-C dizi where there isn't any finger stretch issue. If you prefer lower pitch, then try the alto-C first. As to which shop provide good dizis, you could consider www.easonmusicstore.com

Besides the stretch on the fingers, Base G dizi has seven fingering holes (1 more than the usual 6). The normal fingering for dizi will have to be modified ie the right little finger will be doing the job of the ring finger The extra hole is for playing sharps
